Alex "Hitch" Hitchens (Will Smith) is a self made New York date doctor, and makes his living secretly helping unpopular men how to meet the women of their dreams. He has one rule, he will only work with those men that are looking for true love. Hitch is smooth, and knows exactly what to say. He's very good at teaching these geeky type men what to say, and how to act, but when it comes to his own love life, that's different. When Sara (Eva Mendes) a gossip columnist comes into Hitch's life, he doesn't seem he knows what to do. Every date with Sara was a disaster and seemed Hitch needed someone like himself to walk him through his dates.

One of his clients Albert (Kevin James) is an accountant, who is very shy and uncoordinated. He wants Hitch to teach him how to get the girl of his dreams, the super rich Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta). There was some funny scenes in this movie between Hitch and Albert, expecially when Hitch is teaching Albert how to get a goodnight kiss, and when Hitch is teaching Albert how to dance.
