Movie: Guess Who
2005 Movie
Comedy/Romance
Rated: PG-13
1hr 46 mins
My Rating: 3 (out of 4)
Percy Jones (Bernie Mac) Is about to renew his vows after 25 year to his wife Marilyn (Judith Scott). Their Daughter Theresa (Zoe Saldana) is taking her boyfriend Simon Green (Ashton Kutcher) to New Jersey with her to meet her parents for the first time and to announce their engagement. Theresa has already told her parents the important things about Simon, but she left out one important thing, that he is white.
Percy has already done his homework by pulling Simons credit report, and saying it was a thing of beauty. But the day of the trip, Simon quits his job, and doesn't tell Theresa about it. When they get to New Jersey, the first meeting was very ackward for Percy and Simon, and things go downhill from there.
Percy doesn't want Simon sleeping in his house, so he decides to take him to a hotel, but with no rooms available. Percy is forced to let Simon sleep in the basement of their home. To keep Simon from going upstairs and bothering his daughter, he shares a fold out bed with Simon.
It doesn't look like Simon is going to win Percy over, but after Percy finds out that Simon quit his job, he runs to tell his daughter Theresa about it, Theresa gets mad at Simon for lying, and Marilyn gets mad at Percy for getting into his daughters business. The two women decides to leave them by themselves. Simon and Percy begin to bond, they play football on the floor, and Simon teaches Percy how to do the tango. The next morning, they head out to get the women.
Percy wins Marilyn back easy with some lines that Simon had told him, but Simon wasn't so lucky with Theresa. Theresa and Simon breakup and Simon heads for the bus station. While getting ready for their party, Percy realizes why Simon quit his job, and rushes off to the bus station to get him. Percy and Marilyn renewed their vows in great fashion, and Simon and Theresa got back together and announed their engagement.
This was a very good movie. There was some funny moments in the movie, and there were some serious moments. This is a movie I would recommend watching. Go rent it today, or you can buy the dvd here at a great price or use one of our convenient movie downloads!
