Movie: Are We There Yet

2005 Movie
Comedy
Rated: PG
1hr 35 mins
My Rating: 2 (out of 4)

Nick Persons (Ice Cube) is a bachelor who owns a small collectibles shop, and purchased a new Navigator. Nick seems to be living the perfect bachelors life, until he meets Suzanne ( Nia Long), a divorcee with two mean kids. While driving home, Nick sees Suzanne broke down side the road, and offers her a hand. The car wouldn't start, so Nick offers Suzanne a way back and forth to work, hoping this would lead him into a date. After Suzanne tells Nick, they should only be friends, he finds an opening, when the kids Dad bails at the last minute, and seems to force her into staying home, and missing her business trip to Vancouver, and losing her job.

Nick steps up, and offers to help Suzane, by taking taking her kids Lindsey (Aleisha Allen) and Kevin (Philip Bolden) to Vancover to be with her, which meant saving her job, and could get Nick out of the friend zone. What Nick doesn't know, is the kids have already made a pact to do whatever it takes to keep their Mom away from prospective suitors. To the kids Nick is a threat to their hopes of Mommy and Daddy reuniting.

From the start of the trip, it's bad. They missed their flight, then their train, which leaves Nick to driving them to Vancouver in his new Navigator. The trip proves to be pure hell for Nick and his Navigator. With the kids not following rules, playing tricks, wrecking the Navigator, and making Nick look like a kidnapper to a trucker on the Interstate and the kids running off on a trian to their Dads house. Nick has his hands full with these kids.

The movie takes a turn after the kids see that their Dad has started a new family and won't be coming back home. The kids then start to warm up to Nick and the trip seems to go much smoother, until the Navigator cautght fire while parked, and they only have 30 minutes to get to their Moms Party.

They decide to hitchhack and the kids is pick up by the same trucker that thought Nick to be a kidnapper, and leaves Nick behind. Nick does get a ride and trys to stop the trucker. The kids end up stopping the truck right across the street from their Moms party, and makes it on time.

Suzanne lashes out at Nick, eventhough he offered to get her kids their to help save her job. In the end the kids there was an happy ending.

This was a crazy movie, it had it's good points and it's bad. The kids in this movie seems so undisciplined it unreal. There were so many twist and turns it makes the movie hard to talk about. It has some funny moments, with alittle romance. I think the movie could have been better, but it still worth watching. You can purchase the DVD right here at a great price:
